Opening hours

The Akureyri botanic garden is accessible year round.

Summer (1st June - 30th September)

Garden gates and toilets are open from 9am-10pm

Winter (1st October - 31st May)

The gates are open but the toilets are closed.

LYST, a licensed restaurant and café, is located at the centre of the garden and sells food and beverages year round during the hours:

10am-7pm Sundays - Thursdays

10am-11pm Fridays - Saturdays

How to find us

The park is located between Þórunnarstræti and Eyrarlandsvegur, to the south of Akureyri Junior College (MA) and north of the Akureyri general hospital.

Akureyri has a free public bus service. If you take the A1 service from mid-town the closest stop to the garden is Þórunnarstræti / Sjúkrahús.

The garden is fully accessible to those with mobility issues.

Park Facilties

During open hours in the summer months (1/6 - 30/9) there are two unisex toilets available, located on the western side of Jónshús (the larger of the two black timber buildings). These facilities are closed during the winter.

Drinking fountains are located alongside the path to the west of the pond.
